March 31, 2011 -- House Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-AL) and Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee Chairman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) have sent Elizabeth Warren, Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury, a letter asking her if she would like to clarify or correct recent testimony regarding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s role in the ongoing mortgage servicing settlement negotiations. Reports seem to indicate that the CFPB’s role in the settlement talks have been more extensive than Professor Warren indicated during her testimony before the Subcommittee on March 16. The Subcommittee has requested clarification or correction to the March 16 testimony by April 1.
