CFPB Seeks Comment on Amendment to Credit Card Rule

April 13, 2012 – The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is seeking public comment on a proposal to revise a 2011 rule that the Federal Reserve Board had issued on credit card fees, in response to a federal court ruling that had granted a preliminary injunction to block the rule from taking effect. At issue in the lawsuit is the total amount of fees that a credit card issuer may require a consumer to pay with respect to a credit card account prior to the opening of an account. The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register. The comment period ends June 11, 2012. Read more.
